POWER LOCK CANADA

In Canada, automobile theft rates are 60% higher than 10 years ago.

Thirty years ago, the rate of vehicle theft in Canada was fairly constant. Today, there are more stolen vehicles each year that are never recovered than there were stolen in total in the mid-'60's. Today, vehicle theft accounts for more than 12% of all property crime in Canada.

Owners are upset and inconvenienced when their vehicles are stolen. Unsuspecting buyers of stolen vehicles suffer financial loss. Joyriders often damage the vehicles they steal and other property that may be inside it.

Stolen vehicles are frequently used while committing other crimes (e.g. breaking and entering of homes) and in police chases when, owing to the thieves' reckless driving, they may be involved in the injuries or deaths of innocent people.

Time and expenses for reporting, processing and settling vehicle insurance claims cost everyone - policyholders, insurance companies and investigators, taxpayers, police and society.

INSURANCE BUREAU of CANADA INFORMATION

Insurance Bureau of Canada

Insurance Bureau of Canada has determined that Immobilizers are the most effective means of vehicle theft prevention. In order to ensure the effectiveness of Immobilizers, Insurance Bureau of Canada has developed a Canadian Standard that sets out minimum performance requirements for electronic vehicle immobilization systems. PowerLock-Canada has been recognized as meeting the stringent requirements set forth by the Insurance Bureau of Canada.

Insurance Bureau of Canada Approved Installation Facilities

Only registered Installation Facilities have access to uniquely numbered Insurance Bureau of Canada Theft Deterrent Window Stickers, which are integral to the registration of individual vehicle installations. Once an approved device has been installed by a registered facility, details of the installation such as the Insurance Bureau of Canada Window Sticker number, VIN of vehicle, the system installed, facility that performed the installation, and vehicle owner details will be registered with Insurance Bureau of Canada by the approved installer. Insurance Bureau of Canada will maintain a database of all approved systems installed by registered installers and pass this data on to the appropriate insurance company for premium discount consideration.
