To Whom It May Concern: I would like to share some thoughts & comments about Ultimate Security Corp., and their POWERLOCK product. A couple months ago, I was searching for an alarm for my 1996 Honda Civic. This car is a show/race car, and, for obvious reasons, I was scared that it may attract attention from the wrong people. I wanted the BEST security system to protect my car.
In New Zealand, hundreds of cars are stolen every week, and many of them are stripped, and then dumped. The rest of them are either never recovered, or disappear overseas. Only recently I had heard that a raid on a criminal's house in Auckland revealed thousands of dollars worth of car parts from the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 4, 5 & 6 series rally car (they are available as factory standard cars in New Zealand). This criminal had enough parts to build his own Evolution 5 rally car from scratch! Not bad for a car that is worth close to USD$60,000...
My civic spent four months in a workshop, and when it came out, it was dazzling. However, I knew this car would catch the eye of a prospective car thief sooner or later.
So I went shopping for an alarm. I spoke to many security/alarm specialists, who recommended one product over another. I looked at dual vehicle demobilizers, remote starters, and alarms with pagers, tracking devices, "non-breakable" tints, and even in-car cameras that photograph thieves.
One day, on a message board on the Internet, somebody mentioned something about a "PowerLock". Intrigued, I went to the PowerLock website to read up on this so-called "security system". I have to admit, initially, I approached the product with skepticism, as I did with the countless "alarms" I had encountered over my research for the best security system. I wanted something that would prevent scumbags driving away in my pride and joy. So, I did a little more research. Magazine after magazine review seemed to think highly of this product. After closer inspection, I realized that this alarm system wasn't an alarm at all. It was a deadlock to prevent the car from being stolen! Integrating it into the starter system meant that, if any prospective criminal cut any wires to try and hot-wire the vehicle, the car would not be able to start. The genius is the simplicity of it.
I emailed a request to James at PowerLock. Now usually when I email a company or organization overseas, I rarely expect a response. Either most companies aren't too concerned with a single international customer, or the email is "lost in the system". However, a couple of days later, to my amazement, a reply came. James did all he could to assist me in arranging a PowerLock to be sent to me. He then forwarded my details to Kenton, the customer services manager, who promptly started the process in sending out a PowerLock. After agreeing to a price (inclusive of hipping), we performed the transaction over an international Paypal account, and he was even gracious enough to send out the package & provide my tracking number during the transaction itself. Now this is what I call 110% customer service. Kenton was friendly, helpful, and really went the extra mile to get me the product I had requested. I really owe these guys one.
The very next day my transaction went through, I had another surprise. I came home to a message saying someone from UPS had rang. I thought that was strange, considering that it takes a package 3-4 days to arrive in New Zealand from California, not to mention the hassles with customs, and the shipping company. So I called UPS, expecting it to be some other parcel that I had ordered and forgotten about. Here was the ensuing phone conversation: UPS agent - "Hi, UPS, you're speaking to Jo... " Myself - "Yes, hi, I have a message that you called me earlier today?" UPS agent - "Oh, yes, well... we've got a parcel from a... Ultimate Security Corp here for you... A PowerLock? It's from the USA... Myself - "UPS agent - "Hello?" Myself - " Are you sure? But, that's not possible... I only completed the transaction yesterday!" UPS agent - "Well, it's right here. I just need to know what exactly this is before I can release it for delivery" Myself - *Big grin* So, a whole whopping two days after my transaction, I was the proud owner of a PowerLock.
I had a local audio/alarm specialist install this for me. He had never installed a PowerLock, so he said he might be 2 hours or more, as he was busy as well with other small projects. I agreed and set off to visit a friend. An hour later, my cell phone rang. My PowerLock had been installed, and was working 100%. When I got back to the garage, I asked him if there were any dramas or if he had encountered problems. To which he said 'nah, all good'. As I was paying the bill, he remarked to me how clever the system works. I believe his exact words were "you'd have a hell of a time trying to get past that solenoid module..." He also agreed that the simplicity of the product was the most ingenious part of it. He then asked where I found such a 'cool gadget'. Need I say more? The car now has the PowerLock, and the peace of mind that it provides is absolutely priceless. The secure feeling of parking your car in the parking lot, and knowing that after a movie, or dinner, that the car will be where you left it, is something that cannot be measured in dollar signs. And topped off with EXCELLENT customer service, you can't go wrong with this product.
Cheers guys. I owe you all one.
